Aims of the foundation

TO GIVE HOPE by financially supporting research into the immunology of transplantation involving all organs in the field of allografts and xenografts.

TO RAISE AWARENESS among institutions, the media and the general public of the development of disorders that can lead to hepatic insufficiency and to liver transplants, in particular, hepatitis C. The Euroliver Foundation has published several Internet sites, such as hepatitis.org, transplantations.org, kidliver.org, and sponsored a CDROM "Organ transplantation, the past, the present and the future".

TO PROVIDE PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT for patients waiting to receive transplants or who have already received transplants, in particular in dealing with the psychological and physical side effects that occur in the course of the therapy required for a successful organ transplant (osteoporosis , neurological and nephrological disorders, etc. after treatment with cortisone or cyclosporine).

Site objectives

The site intends to become a reference site for the liver, focusing on pedagogy (anatomy, functions), on the pathologies, and with an emphasis on the Live donor liver transplantation (LDLT) , a procedure in which a living person donates a portion of his or her liver to another. Indeed, the liver has the capacity to to regenerate itself even after severe damage. Hence the possibility for a healthy person to donate a portion of his/her liver to save a live.
